Visit one of the most interesting wineries in the area located in a fantastic location with magnificent view of the Gulf of Chania. Taste the most prominent Greek native vine varieties (white and red) as you relax at the veranda and enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the surroundings. Your eyes can travel from the Cretan Sea all the way to the rural inland and then from the wineyards and olive trees all the way up the White Mountains. The scenery is stunning and the landscape so pure and serene.

The journey to the winery is simply majestic. It is one of the best attributes of the tour! We will drive through picturesque villages, winding roads with olive trees on either side, breathe the fresh Cretan air and be mesmerized by the scents and colours of nature.
The Loupaki’s winery is a second generation family business made with a lot of love for the grape and its products. The owners are the two siblings, Aspasia and Miltiadis (an oenologist) both very nice and warm people, who have continued their family’s passion for wine making.

Once there, you will have a personalized guided tour of the winery and the vineyards around it. One of the owners will explain all about the wine production and all the other products such as the traditional Cretan alcoholic drink Raki or Tsikoudia and others.
In the winery, there is an exhibition of paintings from local artists as well as Mitliadis’ own creations. Everything there, is made with a lot of love and care!

Museum of Contemporary Art – “Olivepress”

The museum operates on the location of an old oil mill which was built in 1920 and it was still in use till 1980. During the reconstruction of the Old Oil Factory, the aim was to preserve the initial materials of the building along with its authentic technological equipment with the fewest possible interventions.

The museum aims at the housing, presentation and promotion of the permanent collections which consist of more than 250 works of art from an equal number of artists from Greece and abroad. There you can see paintings, sculptures, printmaking, ceramics, photography, video art, constructions, installations and films and videos.

This ancient olive tree is one of seven olive trees in the Mediterranean believed to be at least 2,000 to 3,000 years old, although its exact age cannot be verified. It is a stunningly majestic tree, in an idyllic setting. It still produces olives, and they are highly prized. The miracle of nature stands proud in front of us!
In 1997, the tree was declared a protected natural monument. Branches from the tree were used to weave victors' wreaths for the winners of the 2004 Athens Olympics and the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The Olive Museum, located in a nearby 19th-century house, was built in October 2009 and it forms a harmonious whole with the olive tree. In there, you can find a display of traditional tools and the process of olive cultivation.

In the room dedicated to the cultivation and processing of olives, we see the evolution of the plow, with the wooden plow of Hesiod. It is called so because it was first described by Hesiod, and this plow was used until the mid-1950s. Everything is beautifully displayed and presented.

The Rotonta of Kissamos

The most important Byzantine monument in Crete

The most important Byzantine monument in Crete, dates back from the 6th century. The church of Archangel Michael is located at village Episkopi and it operated as a diocese (episkopi) during the second Byzantine Period. The church is best known as Rotonda as it has circular mastoid dome, like the temple of the Rotonda in Thessaloniki. It is only one of the three in its type, found in the Balkans! The archaeologists have identified five (!) layers of frescoes with the first one laid in the 7th century, depicting the Ascension. Also, in the church you will have the opportunity to admire a very rare icon of St Ann (Mother of Virgin Mary) breastfeeding the Holy Mother of Jesus.
